When I was a child, I wanted to be a storyteller and an artist. I grew up on fairytales and mythology and spent much of my time writing stories. Now that I’m older, I still draw on those same things. I just tell my stories in a different way.
I prefer to use a dip pen and black ink when I work. Drawing with ink reminds me of the storybook illustrations that I loved as a child. Ink is simple, crisp, and fast drying. I only add a wash of acrylic color when necessary to highlight a part of the subject. In this way, I can move from one drawing to the next quickly, as if I were illustrating a story.

However instead of drawing myself, I drafted a number of characters, some familiar and some of my own invention, to help me tell my stories. Through them I illustrate my thoughts and feelings. Sometimes they are humorous and sometimes they’re not, but they’re always me.
