Lemon Street Gallery will present a free art event titled, Caged! Artists In Their Natural Habitat on Saturday, July 7, 2007. The event features artists who, donating their time and talent, will each produce a painting or drawing while guests mingle with the artists, enjoy live music and refreshments, and bid on the works in progress.
Thirty-five to forty artists will arrive at the gallery between 9am and 2pm to start their painting. At 4pm, event sponsors and FRIENDS of Lemon Street are welcomed in for a preview. Our doors will open to the general public at 5pm. Folks will have the opportunity to watch the paintings being created, talk to the artists, listen to live music and bid on the works in progress. The auction board will close at 8:30pm, at which time we will award cash and other prizes to the artists. Awards include: Viewers’ Choice Award (everyone who attends gets to vote,) and Lemon Street Gallery Members’ and FRIENDS Award. Also, the artist whose work sells for the highest amount will receive a month long solo exhibition in 2007. Paintings will be completed by 8:30pm that evening, and will remain on exhibit at Lemon Street Gallery for the balance of July. All of the artwork produced by CAGED! artists will be sold that evening to the highest bidder. CAGED! is a great opportunity for the community to talk to artists and see how paintings are developed. It is also a fun way acquire original artwork from professional artists who work and live in the Milwaukee-Chicago corridor.
Money raised during CAGED! will be used for several projects including web development and physical improvements to our space.
